Welcome to Camelot

The origin story

Hi 👋

My name is Cam. I am a native Seattleite who is deep into the wonderful world of tech; which right now means all things artificial intelligence. My first career was actually in real estate, which to be honest feels like a millennium ago. From working as Communications Director for the local Association of Realtors to selling luxury real estate developments, I have truly done it all and have volumes of tales to tell, some too truly bizarre to even put into print. After the dark ages, ahem, my real estate days, I followed the yellow brick road to startup land. It’s fun here! I specialize in creating go-to-market strategies for small startups, which means I get to work with brilliant, passionate people who are truly creating the building blocks of our future. Along the way I have met some fantastic characters and learned some really interesting things that I would love to share with you, if you are lucky enough to end up on my list 😉   In my heart of hearts I am a storyteller and an insatiable learner, so settle in because the journey is about to get exciting!

Why Camelot?

Well it all started with The Camielot. I’ll be honest with you, I had a truly magical childhood and The Camielot was a huge part of it. My family moved to Washington when I was 8 because my parents loved the Puget Sound and intended to retire here someday. We had a beautiful boat dubbed the Camielot, after my bold young self. For years we sailed the Camielot through the majestic San Juan Islands having the most magnificent adventures! Catching shrimp from the dock at Friday Harbor, watching Orca whales breeching the icy ocean waters, bald eagles flying overhead, the wind whipping my face as the salty water splashed my rosy little cheeks. Digging for clams on the beach and pulling up geoducks bigger than my tiny little head! It was truly like a fairytale. I have the most incredible memories that I will treasure forever.

Nameplate from the original Camielot! It hangs proudly in my office now.

There I am, digging vigilantly for clams.

As I grew up I would read about the legend of Camelot and came to admire what it stood for. The “round table” where everyone had a voice no matter how different their opinions might be. It was a place of nobility and the quest for righteousness. King Arthur’s Camelot highlights an era of hope, progress and a vision for a better society.

So much can be achieved if we grow artificial intelligence applications from a place of nobility. We must provide both safe boundaries and an ecosystem supportive of growth. I am really and truly optimistic that technology can drive us forward to a more abundant future.

I present a lot of information in this newsletter. Please take it as merely a prompt to your own thought process. It is not my preference that you agree with me. My only hope is to spur new thoughts and perhaps conversations. I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure, which is: Try to please everybody.

Without further ado my dearest lords and ladies, kings and queens…

Welcome to Camelot
